- Challenging and Thoughtful Monthly Special Topics and One On-going Assignment
- Individual Critique
- Group Discussion
- Additional On-location Workshops: Developing An Art For Photographic Seeing
Develop the skills to critique your images based on an understanding of the four criteria to judging a work of art.
- Describing the work,
- Interpreting the image,
- Evaluating the presentation,
- Theorizing on the intent of the piece. Does it evoke a mood, tell a story, have visual impact--- Is it art?
Explore photographic disciplines
Going beyond composition, lighting, texture and form we will challenge ourselves by learning how to choose and define our subject, examining angle and scale, knowing best time of day to make the image work, and learning how to break the "rules".
We'll discuss and address contemporary issues about photography as art and story telling.
How the Mentoring Workshops are structured
Each of our one and one-half to two hour sessions is limited to 8 participants, so that we may explore in detail individual photographic styles and monitor individual progress.
Workshop fee is paid at start of each session.
